Around 50 cars have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Cars, walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then found numerous other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police report initial examinations show the substance was probably blood from a person.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; officials are presently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they added.
Local authorities said they were trying "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for tips.
An important official said the attack made him without words and required to be resolved quickly.
"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on social media, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a gunman targeting people of immigrant origin in 2020.
